03 · the price

you see the whole thing before you spend

the board, the rebuilt script, the words in your voice — all of it is on screen first, and nothing is metered on the way in.

the number

a video costs 95¢ a second

the length comes off the reel you forwarded, so the figure is worked out from the ad you actually want and printed on the button before you press it. there is no quote to request and no estimate that changes afterwards.

the floor is ten seconds — a reel shorter than that is billed as ten.

when you pay

charged on delivery, and only on delivery

not on forward. not on the read. not on the script. not while it renders. when the video is in the thread, and not before.

when you don’t

a failure costs you nothing

a render that fails is not billed. a take that does not pass its checks is not delivered, and what is not delivered is not charged. this is not a goodwill policy — it is how the charge works.

the page you land on when one fails says which check caught it and says you were not charged, on a line of its own, every time.

the free floor

nothing is metered on the way in

forwarding is free and there is no cap on it. the read is free. the page is free. the board is free. the library is free. the photograph you put on file is free. the rebuilt script is free. you can forward reels all day, read every one of them shot by shot, and never spend anything.

the film is the part that costs, and it is the only part that does.

why it is on one page

we would rather say it once, plainly

it isn’t cheap. scattering the figure through every screen would be a way of pretending otherwise, so it is stated once, here, in a sentence — and every other page sends you to this one rather than repeating it.
